Introductions to Anti-Corruption Mapping

Online Reporting technologies are increasingly becoming part of = the Anti-corruption Activist toolkit.=C2=A0 Ushahidi has seen a rise of com= munity mappers mapping corruption either as individuals or connected to map= ping or civil society organizations.

As this area of mapping grows, o= rganizations, researchers, and civil society organizations have the opportu= nity to provide the technical community guidelines to improve the creation = and use of new online technologies to support the growth of online reportin= g and mentor individuals within the International Anti-Corruption communiti= es.

There are a number of core requirements to consider for anti-corr= uption mapping: what are some guidelines for creating new technology to ass= ist this user group? What are the guidelines for users (re: security, priva= cy concerns)? How can new technology organizations and anti-corruption acti= vists create and share est practices? For example, Usahididi recommends tha= t anti-corruption activists should receive training from Tactical T= ech or other like organizations.

At the International Anti-Corrup= tion Conference (November 2012) the following draft Table of Contents was c= reated. Many of these items are=C2=A0 covered in other Ushahidi toolkits an= d wiki pages.

1. Engagement and Outreach=C2=A0 (see Outreach)

3. Data Visualization/InfoGraphics (se= e Our Products)
