For the last one month there has been flooding in different parts of Kenya as a result of heavy rains. At least 70 people have lost their lives, more than 100,000 others have been displaced and properties have been destroyed by the floods as well. Some affected communities have tried to control floods through the construction of dykes but have not successfully solved the problem, as flood waters overtop the dykes almost annually.so there is need to look for other possible measures to control the flood.
Therefore we the experts working on the project on Capacity Development of Effective Flood Management in Flood Prone Areas welcome comments and views of the people of Kenya, most especially the most affected ones. We will also be glad to here from those who have witnessed any flood scenario in the past one month.

Thanks for your post. Are you using Ushahidi to track this activity? Or, are you sharing this detail in lieu of obtaining community support? There have been a few flood maps over the years and people may be able to guide you.
