The information in this wiki hasn't been maintained for a good while. Some of the projects described have since been deprecated.

In particular, the "Ushahidi Platform v3.x" section contains information that is often misleading. Many details about this version of Platform have changed since.

This website is an extraction of the original Ushahidi wiki into a static form. Because of that, functions like logging in, commenting or searching will not work.

Will my email and password be the same on the new version, as it is in the old version?

Yes, the logins are the same.

Will the Ushahidi iOS and Android apps work with the new version of Crowdmap?

No, because we have rebuilt the new version of Crowdmap from the ground up. However, we plan to launch new Android and iPhone developer SDKs to assist in the development of your own custom apps.

What pages will not be transitioned over to the new version?

The new version of Crowdmap doesn't have custom pages, therefore, they will not be transitioned over. We are considering adding these in the future.

Will I be able to use the phone number I have set up to collect SMS messages?

Yes. We will support FrontlineSMS, Clickatell, SMSSync and will do our best to preserve your settings. However, this support isn't currently available in the new version of Crowdmap.

Will my custom header image be transitioned over to the new version?

Yes. The new version supports banner images for maps. However, the dimensions of the image have changed so you may need to update your graphics.

Will the new version of Crowdmap support themes?

Yes, soon. Shortly after our launch we will allow Crowdmap Plus mappers the ability to use custom CSS to change the look and feel of their maps.

If I have a private deployment, will it still be private on the new version?

Yes. Your map will remain private.

If I want to selectively make some reports on my public map private, can I do that?

Yes. You can make posts private that you yourself have posted, however, those posts will only be viewable by you.

How can I add context (translations/insight/comments/etc) to a post?

When you add a post to a map, you are able to to attach your own commentary on the post in the form of a comment.

Can I edit posts?

The new version of Crowdmap put post ownership on the user. Therefore, the user has control over the data in their post.

Will the new version include the translations that exist on the old version?

We're currently working to provide the new Crowdmap product in as many languages as possible – there are already several available at launch. Please visit our translation page to get more information regarding translations. Of course, we're always looking for help in translation!

If I transition my map to the new version and would like to go back to the old version, is that possible?

No. Once you've made the transition to the new version, the move is permanent. You will still have an opportunity to export the data from the Ushahidi version if you choose to set up your map on your own server.
