In particular, the "Ushahidi Platform v3.x" section contains information that is often misleading. Many details about this version of Platform have changed since.
This website is an extraction of the original Ushahidi wiki into a static form. Because of that, functions like logging in, commenting or searching will not work.

Hello,
another great feature to add to the crowdmap/ushahidi would be the one to set an alert by zip code. To tell the truth I tried to do that for an Oakland zip code and it seems to work. The point is it is not a feature well documented and if you check the created alert in the admin panel you will not see the zip code of it: see the image below.
The user has to receive the alert confirmation email with details regarding the zip code he set too!
In my case I needed to set an alert for a found/lost crowdmap where when a user has set an alert for lost pet in his zip code area he has to receive every notifications on any reports in it (pet lost or found).
I guess a plugin may be created to do tat or the crowdmap/ushahidi feature may be refined in zip code terms.
