The World Bank publishes a lot of base layers on poverty and development such as mDGs on maps.worldbank.org at a sub national level - they are currently hosted on GeoIQ/ArcGIs and can be pulled in to Ushahidi
What is it?
Create a plugin to make it easy to add baselayers or overlays from the World Bank map data.

Why is it necessary? What challenge are you trying to address?
These layers and data could be a great resource and add depth to many Ushahidi maps. However it needs to be easy for users to add these.

What is needed? How can we support you?
Developers will need some PHP knowledge, and possibly familiarity with Ushahidi code base.
