Verification for Uchaguzi Kenya 2013 happens at two levels.
1st level of verification with two key partners
- The CRECO network through the CRECO verification team stationed at the iHub.
- Coverage: nationwide
- CRECO are part of the core Uchaguzi Partnership. They have 4 people in each constituency countrywide, 1 supervisor and 3 observers, a total of 1160 people.
- Contact Method: We have the names and numbers of these people and the CRECO verification team will be responsible for making the phone calls.
- Kenya National Commission of Human Rights
- Kenya National Commission of Human Rights has deployed teams throughout the country focusing on the main hotspots.
- Coverage: Monitors in key hotspot areas + Emergency situation room with nationwide reach
- We have direct access to their monitors via mobile phone and also to the KNCHR situation room.
2nd level of verification: Local verification with partners
We have built partnerships in local partners are organized in the same way (and in many cases) according to the Kenyan Contingency Planning Coordination Hubs. Our partnerships are concentrated on identified hotspot areas.
North Rift – Eldoret Hub
Counties covered: Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo/Marakwet
Uchaguzi Local Verification Partner: Mercy Corps.
Contact method: Mercy Corps teams have been trained and are active on the Uchaguzi platform and will sit in the verification team. Mercy Corps will verify reports in their region and update on action taken through the “Actionable” section of the report.

South Rift – Nakuru Hub
